Today also (coincidentally) happened to be the day of the submission of the NLnet grant application for work on federation.
These are indeed very exciting times, and we are very proud and thankful of the community surrounding Gitea.
In honour of Aaron Swartz Day, here's a link to the award-winning documentary about him, which you can legally watch right here on the Fediverse thanks to its creative commons licence:

You can follow Mastodon accounts through RSS if you prefer:
1. Go to the profile page of the account you want to follow.
2. Click on the profile picture to open its public profile page.
3. Copy the public profile page's URL and add .rss to the end of it, then add this address to your feed reader.
For example, to follow FediTips via RSS, use the address https://email@example.com in your feed reader.
(Note that this only works for that account's public posts)

I was notified that @tateisu's Mastodon app "Subway Tooter" has received a warning from the Google Play Store citing user-generated content that "incites discrimination".
A Mastodon app does not host or promote any content. The user types the address to connect to. The responsibility of moderating resides with that server. So unless Google is going to drop Chrome, Firefox and Opera from its platform, this is completely out of line.

In honour of Mozilla renewing its half-billion dollar deal with surveillance capitalist Google to continue protecting your privacy, we will be launching Greenzilla to protect the environment funded by half a billion dollars from ExxonMobil.
With the US mulling the decision to ban #tiktok, we should also consider banning #instagram and #facebook because they essentially do the same thing: piss all over your privacy while allowing you to be "connected" to people that atrophy helped you get rid of long ago.
Oh, wait, American companies that spy on people are okay and acceptable. It is different when the Chinese do it.
